Want A Hearty Meal But Dont Have All Day

Soup, is not just a meal that cures the common cold. Nor is it a frequent meal only for the dieter. Soup is a meal that can be very hearty and filling, while at the same time being a healthy contribution for the MIND, BODY and SOUL. You may be sitting there at reading this thinking " soup is a good idea, but who has all day to make it"?

You are in luck, I have the answer to your question. YOU have the ability to make an awsome soup with very little time consumption out of your day. If you so happen to have a slow cooker in the garage somewhere that you stored away and forgot about; well YOU too are in luck. ( not only does your slow cooker finally get some well deserved attention, but you also get to show your partner that you finally used an appliance that you swore was needed when you eyed it at the store).

Whats Needed

First lets begin with the ingredients you need to make a delicious soup. This soup is meant to serve 4-6 people. ( please note that not all of the ingredients are required, however each give the soup a unique added taste.

Main Ingredients:

  1. 1 1/2 tomato ( can of stewed tomatoes recommended)
  2. 1 onion chopped
  3. 2 carrots sliced
  4. 2 cups of sliced celery
  5. 1 squash (green or yellow) sliced into fine pieces
  6. 2 to 2 1/2 pounds very lean beef stew meat or chicken cut into cubes
  7. 1 bell pepper (red or green) chopped
  8. 5 large potatoes chopped into cubes
  9. 1 cup shell noodles

Seasonings:

  1. 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  2. 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  3. 1 teaspoon garlic and parsley powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  5. 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder(optional)
  6. 1/2 teaspoon season salt ( optional)
  7. 2 cups of spagehtti sauce

Let's Get Cooking

Now that you have all of your ingedients, its time to put them all together. You will create one of the best soups EVER! Now remember if there is an ingredient that you are allergic to, or maybe you just dont, NO WORRIES. Your soup will still be amazing and filling.

Drizzle olive oil in a pan and brown you stew or your chicken pieces. In a large pot boil your onion, carrots, squash, tomatoes, bell pepper and celery. In a seperate pot boil water for your shell noodles and cook until soft. When the vegtables are half done ADD the spagetti sauce in the pot, along with the carrots, potatoes, noodles and listed seasoning for aroma and flavor. Place a lid on the pot cook for 20 more minutes. Stir occaisionally, once the soup is finished grab a bowl to devour at once!

All of you Crocpot owners, I have not forgoten about you. Proceed to follow all preperation steps. when finished place all ingedients in slow cooker and set the temperature to high. Cook for 1 hour. ADD the potatoes and carrots last after first hour then continue to cook the stew for another 7 hours on low. During this time you may do whatever your heart desires, when you return you will have an aroma filled kitchen and soup ready to eat. Serve immediately your taste buds will thank you. Tip: make sure you blow your food, it may be extremly tasty and HOT!
